The moment everything changed

In 2019, Tina survived a massive stroke.

Overnight, life became ICU rooms, emergency surgery, inpatient rehab, home health, therapy appointments, fatigue, uncertainty, and learning how to navigate a completely different reality.

Like many survivors and caregivers, we quickly learned something no one really prepares you for:

There is no roadmap for recovery when you go home.

What should we expect?

What matters most between visits?

Was progress actually happening?

No neurologist could tell us exactly what recovery would look like, because every journey is different.

What long-term recovery actually looks like

One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is that recovery rarely looks the way people imagine.

It is slow. Often invisible.

Built through small moments repeated over time.

Some days bring momentum. Some bring frustration. Progress slows, stalls, surprises, and starts again.

Seven years later, Tina still lives with severe left-side paralysis, yet she continues to make progress, walking farther, rebuilding confidence, helping lead Cooking with Confidence, and encouraging others earlier in recovery.

Recovery did not end after the first year. It simply changed shape.

Why JourneyWell Exists

Recovery doesn’t only happen during visits. It happens afterward. Outside of the clinic.

In the moments when patients and caregivers are trying to remember what mattered, what to focus on, and how to keep moving forward.

We built JourneyWell because we have lived the fragmentation ourselves. The guidance fades. Information becomes scattered. Progress feels invisible.

Patients and caregivers are left carrying recovery between visits.

JourneyWell helps patients and caregivers replay clinician guidance, follow through between visits, and see progress over time.
